My next big adventure...

Hey guys, so now that Sew-vivor is going to be done soon, I can hardly wait to tell you guys about my next big adventure.  Have any of you had any experience with the world of Geocaching?  It is AWESOME!!!  Some of you may be asking... um... "What the heck is Geocaching?"  Well, let me tell you!!!  I've been holding this in for a while, but I know it's the perfect next step for my blog.  Starting in May I'm going to transition my posts from sewing/food/crafting related content to primarily a blog all about Geocaching.  I chose May because it's the month that my husband and I began doing it when we were younger.

Here's a picture of us a couple of Summers ago when we were on vacation in southern Utah doing some Geocaching... or "caching" as we call it for short (pronounced "c-a-s-h-i-n-g").

Why the change?? It's just time I devote some real attention to my true passion.  My husband has been talking a lot about it lately.  This way we can both blog about our adventures together instead of me always sort of leaving him all alone while I blog about sewing (which has been fun too).  So that's my big news.  I know my close friends and family are super excited about this and I already have my first post ready to go (you'll have to wait though til May)!!  But first... here's a little explanation of what Geo-caching is:

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a GPS or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world.

A typical "cache" is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name (Rach H!!). Containers contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value. Geocaching shares many aspects with orienteering and treasure hunting.  For example:

My new Garmin that my hubbs just bought me!!! WAY better than my old one... see below

This one was getting a little too bulky to carry around!!

So that's just scratching the surface!!!  Did you know that my husband and I met on a Geocaching trip in middle school?!!  We have loved it ever since.  My sweet hubby even proposed to me while we were on a really cool cache back in 2003.  I'll never forget opening that box and finding an ENGAGEMENT RING!!!!  He's so creative....

So... I'm SUPER excited to finish out Sew-vivor this year, but after that.... NO MORE SEWING for a while for me.  My husband couldn't be more excited... I hope you are too!!!  Who knows, maybe I'll host the first Geocache version of Sew-vivor!!  CANT WAIT!!!

And by the way...
APRIL FOOLS!!!
I've never been geocaching, neither has Troy.
Not sure who that girl is doing the geocaching in the picture... thank you google images!
My favorite is the picture of that rediculous old GPS device... thank you again Google Images...

Things around here aren't really changing at all.
In fact, I am hoping to do more sewing now that my sewing studio is all organized.
Were you fooled? :)

I gave the computer to my husband last night and asked him to make up my annual blogging April Fools Joke. I love that he came up with this.  Pretty sure I laughed harder than anyone.  He's never written on my blog before. He totally made it sound like I wrote it. I was laughing my head off! If you really love April Fool's jokes, here are the others I've pulled in past years.
what we're doing for our kids  (definitely read all the comments on this post... i showed them to Troy and we were in tears laughing)
what i won!

Did you pull any April Fool's pranks today?
I'm a sucker for a good joke.... do tell.

  10. You totally got me! But, I haven't really known you long enough to even suspect it wasn't true! I was thinking, "Well, I guess that's a good thing. Doing something you love, spending time with your husband . . . did she really carry that giant, ancient GPS-thing into the woods?" As an aside, we actually love Letterboxing as a family when we travel. No huge ancient GPS-things to lug around. I am not giving up sewing to do it full-time, though!
