Hey everyone! You are in for a double treat today... a guest post and giveaway from my friend and makeup artist, Kristie from Blushing Basics. This girl is gorgeous inside and out, and I'm excited to introduce her to you! Her blog is full of beauty tips and tutorials; I have learned so much from watching her tutorials about applying eye makeup, (and she is sharing one with us today)!
Here she is!
tis' the season for prom and graduations. whether you're attending, chaperoning, have a daughter/niece/cousin attending, you all want to look your best, right?
here are some tips on how to look your best for the big night:
- be yourself! attending a formal event can be a bit uncomfortable or intimidating. the only thing that makes it worse is attempting an outfit or makeup that you don't feel yourself in. make sure that all of your choices reflect your personal style. not only will you feel confident, but you'll look beautiful.
- pack for emergencies. yes, i'm talking about beauty emergencies. whether it is a few extra bobby pins, your lipstick of choice, gum or breathmints, you need to be prepared. that motto works for Boy Scouts and glamour girls.
- don't forget the details. the day before the event, run through a mental checklist of items to do. eyebrows plucked? check. toenails polished? check. you get the idea. i hate when i am scrambling to get ready and realize, oops! i forgot to shave my legs.
- DIY. looking good doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money, it is knowing how to do things yourself, and do them well. there are tons of tutorials to be found for makeup, up-do's, manicures, etc. do a quick search and find the videos that work best for you.
with that being said, here's a video tutorial i created for a Smoky Eye. it shows step by step the products i use to prepare for a big night. perhaps it's too much makeup for you? choose the steps you like best and follow them, i.e. contouring, eyelining, or lipstick applying.
and to help you look even better for your big night, we have some COVERGIRL makeup products to share. create your own custom lipstick shade with the new COVERGIRL blastflipstick or apply makeup easily with with COVERGIRL's intense shadowblast. there are two of each to give away, so be sure to enter.
