"I have always been into crafting but I started sewing only a few years ago. One day I came home from was snowing and I knew I wouldn’t be going to work the next day. I went and bought a sewing machine that night and locked myself up in my apartment and taught myself how to sew! I have been LOVING it ever since! I fell in love with the designer fabrics I sewed with and I have always wanted to own my own company…so that is how Modern Fabric Studio started!"

Her favorite fabric designers are Anna Maria Horner and Amy Butler.

Once Upon a Weekend {Link Party #32} and Features

And.............. here are the top views from last week's party, starting with our #1 view and blog of the week:

Thank you so much for taking the time to link up... grab a button if you want one!

The Shine Project... Pass it Forward

Have you heard of The Shine Project? Ashley is the girl behind it all, and she is starting something... It has the potential of impacting/helping/inspiring many people in big and small ways. I'm excited to be part of the big launch today, and help her spread the word!

Pass It Forward was designed to get people to do little things, everyday, that makes an impact on the community around them. Pass it Forward is designed around a card. Each card is given a unique ID number.
Lets say we're at McDonalds, and I decide to pay for the person behind me in the drive through. I'd give the cashier the card, and tell them to pass it along to the next car when the give them the food that has been paid for. I then go home and log into the website that was on the card, and find my unique ID number. I log into it, and add my information... My first name, city, and a description of what I did....

Let's say the person behind me was you, you would pass it forward to someone else, and then would go home and do the same thing. From the very beginning, you will be able to track where your card goes, and how many people you affect just by doing one simple act of kindness.

Head here to find out more about it!

I just love people who are trying to make a positive difference in the world!

My Day at Harvard Business School.

No.... I don't attend Harvard.
But my brother-in-law does!
He's in his first year at Harvard Business School.
If you read last week's post, you know that I recently visited Boston.
One of the most exciting highlights of our trip was attending a class with my bro-in-law.
My husband and I both went, and when we were introduced as guests, the whole class started clapping for us! We felt so special! (I've heard you get a standing ovation if you're a spouse or parent).
{I felt like an idiot taking this picture, but I had to have it!}

I seriously loved the subject matter of the class. It was all about marketing Pepsi products, and social media. I don't really know why, but I took notes like a madwoman!
I loved, loved, loved it, and I can see why he loves it too!
They had a special guest CEO from Lipton there to participate in the class discussion.
I literally walked out of that class, my heart pumping, just because it was so exciting.

The set up of the classroom is so conducive to a good debate. It was so fun!

It was really neat getting a tour of the campus.
Can you believe how gorgeous this, ahem, study hall is?
Whoever decorated this place went all out.

I was so in love with this private, quiet library, just for the business students.

I was so intrigued with all the innovative ways they are using technology on campus, like with these Hubway stations (rent-a-bike).

And these solar-powered trash cans/compactors.
(That's my bro-in-law Levi).

We took a tour of the undergraduate part of campus. I learned so much from the tour. I loved every second. I will spare you the historical details, but if you're ever in Boston, make sure you tour Harvard. It is beautiful, and so incredibly interesting!!!

(Wigglesworth Hall. That name totally made me giggle)!

(That's my hubby).
There's a legend that says if you touch the foot of John Harvard, you will have good luck getting into the university someday.
