Hello Rach's lovely readers! My name is Gentri and I blog over at Gentri Lee. I'm super excited to be here today. I'm going to share with you one of my favorite Christmas recipes. I grew up on these Sugar Cookies and they are fantastic!
First, the recipe:
1 cup Shortening
1 1/2 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Sour Cream (that's an important one!)
2 tsp Vanilla
2 Eggs
4 cup Flour
1 tsp Soda
1 tsp Baking Powder
3/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Nutmeg (the other important one)
Mix ingredients together, then chill for 1 hr. Don't skip that step. It'll make the dough work so much better. Once it's chilled, lay out a space on your counter and dust with flour. Then cover your rolling pin in flour and roll the dough to be 1/4 in. thick. Then cut out all the fun shapes you want!
Next, place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 450 for 5 minutes. YUP, 5 minutes! Do not go longer, if anything go shorter. You want them to be white when they come out. Not golden.
I'd love to hear if any of you try this recipe. It's a good one. Trust me on the Sour Cream. :) That's what takes it from ordinary to extraordinary!
Thanks for reading today! I'd love for you to stop by my blog anytime and say hello! And thank you Rach for including me in your fun Christmas party!
Love,

I think you convinced me to try a new sugar cookie recipe this year...it's going to be hard breaking away from my favorite recipe, but I think I'm going to do it. Haha. Thanks for sharing, Gentri & Rachel! :)
Man those cookies look tasty!
