how to make dried apples.

Go apple picking.
(One of our favorite fall activities)!
Wash, peel, core, and slice your apples.
I love my fancy shmancy apple tool that my sis gave to me for Christmas a few years ago!
Place them in water and lemon juice. It gives them a nice flavor and they won't turn brown!
Dice and spread on a cookie sheet. Place in a preheated oven (200 Farenheit).
It took about 5 hours for my apples to dehydrate. During the process, you need to give them a good shake and stir.
Once they're cool, you place place them in ziploc bags and store them in a pantry or freeze them.

They make such a yummy, easy snack. And they're good in waffles and muffins too.

  1. I love this idea! They sound delicious! Thanks for the 'how-to'!

  2. Oh woooow. YUM. We are a little obsessed with apples over in our home. This post is just perfect for that! :o)

  3. LOL, I thought about posting the same how to!! ; ) My mother in law has been making these all month long. She sprinkles them with cinnamon sugar. Another fun thing to try is sprinkling them with flavored jello, it gives them a fun color for the holidays too.

  4. We love dried apples and for whatever reason I never thought to try to make them myself... DUH! Thank you for sharing!

  5. Thanks for sharing! I did not think about using water and lemon juice to keep them from turning brown in the oven!

  6. Yum! I remember eating those when I was a kid. I may have to try this! Would love for you to stop by my blog!

  7. Hi! Okay, so I happened upon your site and saw this tutorial, and I was like, "So THAT'S how you use that fancy apple slicer thingy!!" A girlfriend of mine lent me hers to make apple snacks recently, and I could NOT figure out how to use it! I was trying to clamp it to the side of a countertop like a vice! But then I couldn't figure out where to put the apples!

Apparently I completely missed the HIGHLY obvious suction cup on the thing! *snort*

Nice to meet you! Fun blog!

  8. These are FAB - I have to get one of those gadgets for the apples! Thanks for sharing exactly how you made it.

Visiting from TT&J - new follower!

  9. You make it look so easy! I tried to do it once and it was not easy. Maybe I need that fancy tool. Love it!

  10. Great how-to! I love dired apples and this seems so easy. :) Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comment. Have a great day!
