the story of a strawberry

they planted you.
they grew you.
we picked you.
we washed you.
we admired you.
we even photographed you.
then we squished you.
we cut you.
we ate you.
we enjoyed you.

the end.

tips: i used this pectin and recipe for my freezer jam. i also threw in a handful of raspberries to each batch. it gives off a wonderful flavor! instead of mashing by hand, i put all my berries into the blender because i don't like chunky jam :)

ps- giveaway winner of the tutu from kadydid designs was announced on my facebook page!

  1. Holy Moly-- those strawberries look SO good-- What a beautiful picture!
The jam sounds delicious... I swear one of these days I'm going to try jam. How Fun!

  2. Looks so good! I need to do that next year:) You are awesome!

  3. I always blend mine too, pretty much the same reason.

Last year I found my greatest trick yet. SInce we were getting ready to move I would just pick the fruit, wash them, stem them, and put them into freezer gallon bags. This last winter I was able to make them into jam. It was SO much more enjoyable to can my jam when it was cold outside. Made my kitchen nice and warm and it smelled like summer! I'm going to do that from now on. But first we have to get our strawberries producing again. All we have now are brand new baby plants.

  4. Wow! Everything looked delicious! I think I'll plant some strawberries next year!

Thanks for your comment. Have a great day!
